If the 1:4 diluted screen is negative, they verify the administration of RHIG and call the antibody passive anti-D. Those cells, if negative, reasonably rule out most antibodies other than Anti-D; however, they do not distinguish between passive and "real" anti-D. The hospital probably utilizes the mini panel to effectively rule out other antibodies when the patient most likely only has a passive -D.
