Solvate chemistry

A solvated electron is a free electron in (solvated in) a solution, and is the smallest possible anion. Solvated electrons occur widely. Often, discussions of solvated electrons focus on their solutions in ammonia, which are stable for days, but solvated electrons also occur in water and other solvents – in fact, in any solvent that mediates outer-sphere electron transfer. The solvated electron is responsible for a great deal of radiation chemistry. WebSolvate isomerism: This is also known as hydrate isomerism if water is involved as a solvent. Compounds that have the same composition, but differ by whether (or) not solvent molecules are present as ligands in the coordination sphere (or) are merely present as free solvent molecules outside the coordination sphere are known as solvate isomers.
